2021

Acquisition & foundation

Tucows acquired UNR Corp’s registry services platform. We welcomed 10 veteran engineers and business leaders with a combined 150 years of domain experience to our organization. At the time, the platform supported around 500,000 domain names.

2022

Early expansion

We expanded into ccTLD operations and partnered with Orange Domains to launch .locker, the first ICANN-delegated TLD designed to operate across both the DNS and the Bitcoin Naming System (BNS).

2025

Major milestones

May 2025: We seamlessly executed the largest domain migration* in history, transitioning 4.2 million .in domains in just 6 hours.

September 2025: Our platform supports 7 ccTLDs, 17 IDN TLDs, 41 gTLDs, and 149 SLDs — totalling approximately 6.6 million domains.

Coming soon: We'll surpass this milestone by welcoming Radix registry and their 11 TLDs—approximately 10 million domain names—to our platform.
